Founded in 1939, the Fuji brewery is managed by the 3rd generation Imaoka family in the town of Izumo. The town is famous for its shrine, Izumo Taisha, built in the 8th century. This shrine is regarded as the oldest and most important shrine in all of Japan. In its name, Izumo Fuji sake pays tribute to both this shrine and to Mt. Fuji, the most loved and revered symbol of Japan. The Imaoka family brews using old school and traditional methods without modern machines. They do everything by hand: steaming using an old-fashioned Japanese steamer, koji making, and pressing by fune press, or wooden vat, a very gentle method.It shows pineapple, candied sugar, subtle pear on the nose. On the palate it is juicy, soft and melting. -

Yuki No Bosha Junmai Daiginjo "Cabin in the Snow" Saiya Brewery doesn't allow high demand speed their production. The sake they brew follows a strict discipline to fine quality. The composition of their sake doesn’t take on a strong aroma (known as uwadatsuka), instead it has a strong aftertaste, or fukumi. Tinto Pesquera, the Familia Fernández Rivera flagship property, is known for producing some of the most sought-after Tempranillos in the world, including Millenium Reserva, which is only made in select vintages. The grapes for Millenium are sourced from the Viña Alta vineyard, where Familia Fernández Rivera planted their first vines at the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s. It is located at an altitude of over 800 metres. Millenium Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 2015 has a clean and bright with a very deep, black cherry color. On the nose the wine is full with fruit aromatics and subtle, well integrated oak. It has harmonious notes of ripe, black fruit, licorice and hints of coffee and spices. On the palate, Tinto Pequera has a full, fleshy and long with a lingering, round tannic structure. An elegant development on the palate with ripe fruit and roasted coffee beans coming through in the finish. This is a silky, elegant wine that aged well in French oak barrels. Great with all types of red or white meats. Also with game dishes and above all perfect with roast suckling lamb. It also goes very well with stews and pulses, as well as desserts, such as bitter chocolate or cheesecake. -

Champagne Chartogne-Taillet Rose Brut is a blended Champagne that offers two distinct and successive taste profiles. This wine first enrobes the mouth with a mellow texture, then is long on the palate, leaving a delicate and precise consistency. Le Rosé is a blended Champagne composed of Chardonnay, and red grape varieties (mostly Pinot Noir). The blended red wine comes from one of two plots recognised for the quality of their red-wine grapes. In certain years, from the Orizeaux plot, and since 2017, from the Les Fontaines plot in Saint Thierry. Le Rosé is an exception among the house's wines. It requires more varied oenological work than our single-vineyard Champagnes do. The effect of this addition of red wine to white wine necessitates specific decisions to avoid excess opulence, fruitiness or tannicity. -

The 2019 vintage of Aurora Vineyard is a wine of finesse and elegance and is characterized by its broad palate that begins at entry and follows through to a stunning and lengthy finish. To create this seamless wine, the vineyard was harvested several times over a two week period. The fruit was manually selected berry-by-berry and then fermented in both stainless tank and wood barrels, creating numerous wine lots with subtle but distinct nuances. The 2019 vintage offers classic Aurora aromas and flavors of wild blackberry, cassis, candied cherry and vanilla, cinnamon, and clove. A stunner. Rotlay is a parcel of vines within the larger Sonnenuhr vineyard, vinified separately for this bottling thanks to the unusual beauty and complexity of its wines. The Sonnenuhr (‘sundial’) vineyard itself is one of the most celebrated in the Mosel, and this precipitously steep part of it yields a wonderful example of the vineyard’s style in this cool corner of the Mosel: light but intensely flavored. 2020 was a warm vintage (the last in a trio of warm years) but with cooler weather at harvest. This ensured freshness and balance in the wines, which are remarkably easy to drink while maintaining all the tension and elegance typical of Mosel Riesling. The Rotlay in 2020 showcases the cool, understated style of Heinrichshof’s wines: delicate hints of spice, flowers and slatey mineral seduce rather than overwhelm the drinker. Additional complexity of flavor may be expected when aged for 4-5 years after the vintage. -
The Barolo Castelletto is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the upper parts of the Castelletto cru in Monforte d’Alba. Castelletto is a cool, east-facing cru facing the famous Vigna Rionda cru of Serralunga d’Alba, separated only by a small stream at the bottom of the valley.The 2017 vintage was challenging for many in the region due to heat and drought. However, wine critic Walter Speller has noted on JancisRobinson.com: ‘it is Monforte d'Alba that has turned out to be the absolute star in this vintage. Tasting its wines was like changing gears, going from a sluggish it is Monforte d'Alba that has turned out to walk to a brisk pace. The wines show generous, juicy fruit with a proper tannic core and plenty of the energy that is in short supply in 2017. The Castelletto cru, until now still flying a little under the radar, delivered a number of delicious wines’Very delicate aromas on the nose, with concentrated fruit on the palate and an elegant style. Castello di Perno is an important, up and coming estate in Piedmont of which wine lovers will be hearing a lot more in years to come. The brain child of Milanese lawyer Gregorio Gitti, Castello di Perno was founded in 2012 and owns 14 hectares (35 acres) of vineyard in the Monforte d’Alba, Nizza and Alta Langha regions, all farmed organically.
The castello in question sits at the summit of the tiny village of Perno, and houses Signor Gitti’s extensive collection of contemporary art. The wines are made by one of the region’s top winemaking consultants, Gian Luca Colombo.
