Abe Shuzo, located in Niigata, underwent a revival when the 6th-generation ABE, the current Toji, took over the brewery in 2015. Mr. Yuta Abe and his highly enthusiastic team place a strong emphasis on flavor and prioritize it over efficiency, with the guiding principle of "Enjoy Fermentation." ABE Junmai displays a striking umami flavor at the start, accompanied by melon notes, and finishes with a grapefruit-like bitterness. A standard junmai sake in the Abe series. This sake has a good balance of rice flavor and acidity. -
The only white wine made by the Fernández family, Alejairén draws its name from the combination of its creator Alejandro and its grape variety Airén. Alejairén Crianza 2020 has an intense straw-yellow color. Clean and brilliant. On the nose it has balsamic and toasted notes, gentle hints of stone fruit and attractive touches of anise and lantana. On the palate the wine has a full, smooth mouth-feel but very fresh. A delicious lingering finish with notes of roasted almonds and stone fruit coming through. -

Inspired by the historical winemaking techniques of Erni Loosen’s great-grandfather, the Appassionata Riesling GG is made in the same way as the Dr. Loosen Grosses Gewächs (“Great Growth”) Rieslings he produces in Germany. The GG designation indicates a dry-style wine from a vineyard of special distinction — in this case, the old-vine Medici vineyard, planted in 1976. We farm this exceptional site, which is just a few miles east on the Chehalem Mountain ridge. The wine is fermented in a 3,000-liter, neutral oak German Fuder cask. It rests on the full lees for two years, and is then held in bottle for three to five years before release. -

Its name comes from the latin word MACERIA that refers to an enclosure wall made in dry masonry and to some extent, also refers to the ruins of stone houses. A unique champagne in that it is composed of 100% Meunier, a grape that typically plays a supporting role in this region. Following a hand harvest the grapes go through alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Afterwards, the new wine is blended with an impressive 50% reserve wine from the 2012-2014 vintages. Once bottled, it spends almost three years on the lees, gaining complexity. As an extra brut it receives only a small amount of dosage at 3g/L. The aromatics are all ripe orchard fruits, bright citrus, white pepper and minerality. The palate is full of fresh fruit, despite the low dosage, and thanks to the pure Meunier fruit. It is nearly full bodied and has flavors of pear, cherry, plum, brioche and apple skin. Pair with tuna steaks or salty, nutty cheeses. -

The Cru Bourgeois classification is a well-respected, long-standing classification for Left Bank Bordeaux wines, usually made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon. Cru Bourgeois châteaux are typically considered one qualitative step below their Grand Cru Classé neighbors, but are well known for their exceptional value, frequently producing very affordable wines that can nonetheless easily improve for 15-20 years.
