Grape: Muscat à Petits Grains BlancOn the Durban label there is a coat of arms with three “Ts.” This is the official coat of arms of the village of Beaumes-de-Venise. The modern day city was originally three villages (Aubune, Beaumes, and Saint Véran). The “T” is a tau which is also an old form of the cross. The three taus, or crosses, are for the protectors of the three villages, Sainte Anne, Saint Roch, and Saint Sébastian. -
The Vivanco winery and its incredible museum is located in Briones, La Rioja. Founded by Pedro Vivanco, a pioneer among Spanish winemakers, the estate is now managed by his sons, Rafael and Santiago. Rafael is the winemaker and is focused on producing wines exclusively from native grapes using traditional techniques. This Vivanco Crianza is made with 95% Tempranillo, 2% Maturana Tinta, and 3% Graciano, and aged in both French and American oak barrels for 16 months. Fresh and floral, expect red berry aromas with spicy notes on the nose, a well-balanced palate with juicy acidity and medium chalky tannins. -

Aged following a biological ageing, under a veil of yeast called “flor” in the cool, humid, salty air of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a fishing town on the estuary of the Guadalquivir river. Bright yellow colour with golden reflections. This Manzanilla is laced with sea breeze scents and pleasant chamomile and flor aromas. Bone dry and light, fresh and crisp, with a hint of sea salt on the palate. Delicate and refreshingly acid with a lingering aftertaste. Papirusa means “elegant and beautiful”. It was the name of the doll that Emilio Lustau gave the daughter of Joaquín Burgos, first manager of Bodegas Lustau in the ’40s.Bone dry and light, fresh and crisp, with a hint of sea salt on the palate.

González Byass was created in 1835 by Manuel Maria González and remains in family hands today, now in the fifth and sixth generation. Founded in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, in the heart of Sherry country, it is dedicated to the production of high quality sherries. The Sherry triangle, made up of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda, has a unique microclimate influenced by the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and Guadalquivir and Guadalete rivers. Production is dominated by the Palomino variety, and vines are planted in the white Albariza soil, with high chalk content which is excellent for retaining moisture. These soil conditions, combined with over 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, fresh, humid breezes from the west (poniente) and warm, dry breezes from the east (levante) have formed the perfect marriage with the Palomino variety to produce an array of sherry styles.All sherries are aged following the traditional Solera system where the wines are blended in 600 litre American oak casks. All batches of Bush Vine Grenache are crushed as separate parcels to either static pumpover fermenters or open top fermenters. The majority of batches are fully destemmed, however for some the stems are left on to contribute another flavour dimension. The wild yeasts present on the grape skins are allowed to initiate fermentation. Particular batches are selected to remain on skins post-fermentation. This extended maturation helps to contribute an even greater complexity and individuality to the wine. After draining and pressing off skins, all batches are racked into older American, French and Hungarian hogsheads for six months maturation. The fragrance is saturated with brooding plum red fruits, dark cherries and perfumed berries. This is a defined wine showing the richness and concentration of the vintage. The palate is richly textured, fleshy, round and supple, with a red juiciness that merges into velvety tannins. -
