Alión comes from a terroirs located in the very best areas of the Ribera del Duero DO region. The soils complement each other, and allied with the same winemaking process used in Vega Sicilia, they have produced wines with a firm structure. 2019 was a drier vintage than normal, which was also noted during the grape tasting. Potent, concentrated skins, yet with a very firm structure.

Pintia lies on the banks of the Douro River, within the Toro D.O. region. The extremely cold winters and hot summers influence its complex soils, which are mainly known for their significant pebble content. This means that finding the perfect harvest period is key to ensure the wine conserves both its fresh aromas and acidity.  

Borgogno No Name 2020

Borgogno No Name is made from estate fruit from three of Barolo’s top Crus, and declassified in protest by one of the greatest Barolo producers of all time. “I have chosen one of my best wine and I called it No Name as a quiet protest against the bureaucracy that afflicts Italian agriculture and the wine world.” Made with 100% Nebbiolo, the wine was aged in oak barrels for at least three years and in bottle for at least two years. Intense garnet red color with orange rim. Ethereal, persistent, perfumed. Dry, with velvety tannins, ageworthy.

About Borgogno

Founded in 1761, Borgogno is the oldest continuously operating winery in Barolo. Cesare Borgogno expanded the winery’s production in the 1920s and commercial success followed as he became one of the first winemakers from Piedmont to ship wines abroad. Today, the estate includes 39 hectares with 31 planted to vine. These include five hectares of Timorasso and rows in some of Barolo’s most storied vineyards including Liste, Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Fossati, and San Pietro delle Viole. Made with long maceration times and minimal intervention, the wines are renowned for their traditional style and long-term aging potential, a favorite of Italian wine professionals and collectors.

Bouchard Aine & Fils Fixin La Maziere 2020

The plot "La Mazière" stands north of the village, along the Route des Grands Crus and spreads over 2.2 hectares. Its name comes from the latin word MACERIA that refers to an enclosure wall made in dry masonry and to some extent, also refers to the ruins of stone houses. Bouchard Aine & Fils Fixin La Maziere 2020 has an elegant ruby red color. On the nose the wine has a very charming bouquet dominated by little fruits aromas : such as black cherry, blackberry and blueberry.

The spirit of braai is captured in this Pinotage, South Africa’s only native grape that is a hybrid between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, a perfect pairing for meat cooked over a flame.

In Braai Pinotage the mission is to create a wine that has intensity but with more delicate aromatics and body than most other bottlings out there.

Caballo Loco Grand Cru Tinto Limari 2021 has an intense dark garnet color with violet hues. It has a complex nose, with classic Syrah notes such as black pepper, olives and black fruits. Good volume on the palate with a texture that fills the palate, with fine tannins and a long finish.

The Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes are sourced from a selection of different plots in the “Finca El Estanque” vineyard, with a surface of 60 hectares (150 acres) that is owned by the winery, in the best terroir in Haro. Aging: aged for 24 months in American and French oak barrels. Refined in the bottle for 36 months before release.
