Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve half bottle

By |July 21, 2023|Categories: , , , |

The champagne has a pale gold or straw color with fine and persistent bubbles, creating an effervescent and lively appearance in the glass. On the nose, you can expect a bouquet of fresh and vibrant aromas. Hints of citrus fruits like lemon and green apple, along with floral notes like acacia and white flowers, may be present. On the palate the Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve tends to be well-balanced and crisp, showcasing a combination of fruitiness and elegance. Citrus and orchard fruit flavors are likely to dominate, complemented by a touch of minerality. The acidity should be bright and refreshing, and the finish should be clean and lingering. The champagne pairs excellently with a wide range of dishes. It can be a delightful aperitif, but it also complements various appetizers, seafood, poultry dishes, and lighter fare.

Ernie Els Major Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

By |July 21, 2023|Categories: , , , , |

A fragrant unspooling of red berries, just plucked off a wintery branch, cool and incandescent. The aromas deepen to the darker tones of cassis, brambleberries and black cherries. The vivid fruit is overlaid with a hint of balsam, sketched in with woody spice, fresh cinnamon, touches of vanilla smoke and classic cigar box. The line of cassis continues onto the palate with ripe plums and succulent red cherries, the juicy fruit enlivened further by a refreshing, natural acidity. Fine-grained, powdery tannins layer and dissolve, carrying all that fruit towards the appetisingly clean, and dry finish.

The attack is lively, with a generous midpalate, and a pleasant roundness in the mouth, thanks to the ageing on lees and the 17% of Sémillon that was especially good in 2020. Tangy and beautifully balanced, this wine is ready to drink for those who enjoy fresh fruit sensations. It should continue to delight our palates up until 2026.

Ronchi Di Cialla Schioppettino Di Cialla 2017

By |August 17, 2023|Categories: , , , |

For centuries, the Schioppettino grapes were cultivated in Friulli-Venezia Giulia, in Italy. In the middle of the 19th century, with the advent of phylloxera, Schioppettino was almost completely destroyed. In 1970, Paolo and Dina Rapuzzi founded the winery Ronchi di Cialla and managed to find about 60 surviving vines of Schioppettino. They made new cuttings and managed, in the space of 2 years, to create a first wine estate of 3,500 vines that marked the rebirth of the Schioppettino. In the words of Nick Jackson MW: "Schioppettino is a paradoxical variety: intensely aromatic, medium-bodied, with a mere 12-12.5% alcohol, high acidity and a lingering, perfumed finish, it is also, in spite of its lightness, capable of very long aging." The 2017 vintage is made with 100% Schioppettino grapes, aged in French oak barriques for 14-18 months and in bottles for 30-36 months. According to the producer the wine has capacity to age and develop in the next 20-23 years. So buy 2 bottles: one to drink now and another one for aging! Ronchi Di Cialla Schioppettino Di Cialla 2017 has a balanced ruby red color with bright reflections. It has aromas of  white pepper and small red fruits, currants and blackberries, intriguing balsamic and undergrowth (sous-bois) notes.
