The winery was founded by Fernand, who built both the cellar and the family house in 1960. Color: Straw Aromas: honey and white flower. Palate: Spiced lemon flavors with snappy acidity. Nicely textured and round with a tingle to finish.

Instead of the classic Niigata style of dry and short, they aim to create a “new” sake, centered on aroma, mellowness and deliciousness. A proprietary yeast lends herbs and acidity. While this is polished to 60% and using Yamagata rice, it’s more fascinating than your typical Ginjo. The nose is freshly expressed lemon skin oils. So fragrant! Then the herbs take over before it finally finishes with drying minerals.

Takeda Black Skull Tokubetsu Honjozo MNG is made to highlight the local rice, you’ll get giant aromas that change on every revisit. There’s some Ginjo fruit plus a rich caramel leaping from the glass due to the Honjozo (brewer’s alcohol) used to extract extra aroma and texture. Late on the finish, look for cocoa powder. Enjoy as an aperitif with creamy cow’s milk cheeses, pastas like Carbonara and Primavera, foie gras or pizza. Serve at any temperature.

Sale!Grosset Wines is a small family-run operation entering its fifth decade. The unwavering vision is to create pure expressions of variety and place. Our four estate-owned vineyards, A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic (ACO), are located in high altitude country of the Clare Valley, each site selected for its potential to produce great wine and planted by Grosset. Each is handpicked and hand pruned; each bunch of grapes harvested at optimum ripeness. Production is tiny. Single vineyard wines are the focus. The winemaking process is gentle and uncomplicated. Custodianship remains with Grosset Wines from grape growing to in-house bottling; authenticity is assured. Delightful floral aromas with hints of lime juice and beeswax - though it's white flowers that dominate. It's almost joyful or playful. On the palate, tight, fine and intense; a pure and unevolved thread of lime juice at its core. It has depth of flavour and intensity in its infancy with the suggestion that these will become hallmarks of the aged wine.
