A unique champagne in that it is composed of 100% Meunier, a grape that typically plays a supporting role in this region. Following a hand harvest the grapes go through alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Afterwards, the new wine is blended with an impressive 50% reserve wine from the 2012-2014 vintages. Once bottled, it spends almost three years on the lees, gaining complexity. As an extra brut it receives only a small amount of dosage at 3g/L. The aromatics are all ripe orchard fruits, bright citrus, white pepper and minerality. The palate is full of fresh fruit, despite the low dosage, and thanks to the pure Meunier fruit. It is nearly full bodied and has flavors of pear, cherry, plum, brioche and apple skin. Pair with tuna steaks or salty, nutty cheeses. -

The Baron D'Auvergne Champagne house, nestled in Bouzy, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims region, has a history dating back several centuries. They are a small negotiant house, growing and buying grapes. Bouzy is a Grand Cru village, one of the highest-rated vineyards in Champagne, and well known for the quality of its Pinot Noir grapes, perfect for the creation of this cuvee. The Champagne Baron D'Auvergne Fine Fleur is a Blanc de Noirs, made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, and aged on lees for 36 months, resulting in its complex flavors and delicate effervescence. The dosage is only 9 g/l RS, creating a Brut style.On the nose this Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru reveals a symphony of aromas. Champagne Pommery Brut Grand Cru Royal Millesime 2008 has is crystalline, of a discreet gold with green reflections. The nose presents the patina of the Pommery vintages: elegance, minerality, freshness. First of all intense floral notes reach us: the peony floats around the hawthorn. Maturity is expressed by fruity notes of pear and fresh apricot. The great Pinot Noir present themselves with notes of crushed fresh strawberries. On the palate, the tasting is floating, with a great uprightness. A mineral structure fills the palate from the attack to the finish like a spine. Notes of acacia honey and Mirabelle underline the central element of the tasting. The finish is punctuated by a nice sweetness, marked by flavours of blood orange.
