Established in 1688, Katsuyama is a sake brewery with traditions lasting well over three century. They were established to brew the upscale sake enjoyed exclusively by the feudal lords of the Sendai domain, where was founded by Japan's Most famous samurai & military commander Date Masamune. To this day, Katsuyama carries on the reputation and tradition of its origins as a brewery for the lords.Brewed with a traditional sake brewing method, Den features a fruity aroma and distinct rich flavors. This sake has the true characteristics of a Junmai Daiginjo. Its crisp and clean umami stands out clearly and lingers as a distinctly mouthwatering aftertaste. It is an excellent choice to pair with tuna and salmon sushi/sashimi. It also goes well with meat and meat dishes prepared in both Japanese and western style.

Made from the oldest vines growing in ground made up of large stones lying on top of clay, Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard expresses the full character of the property’s old Merlot grapes which are the only variety to be used. These very old vines obviously have very low yields of 15 to 29 hectolitres per hectare.
The wine is aged for a very long time: 33 months in barrels including 18 months on fine lees. The resulting wine is smooth and elegant. It has perfect balance and lovely freshness. This lush, mouth-filling wine reveals a wide range of aromas and outstanding elegance.

Charmes-Chambertin is one of the eight Grands Crus of the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, the most northern of the great communes of the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard of Charmes-Chambertin lies on an east-facing slope on a site that was formerly a field of grain (Charmes comes from “chaume,” meaning thatch). The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 to 20 months before bottling. This wine is deeply colored, with an intense bouquet of black currants and other black and red berries. The mature wine often has aromas of musk or licorice. Made for aging, the wine will improve for 20 to 25 years in the bottle. Serve with elaborate and strongly flavored foods such as mutton, boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, game or game pâté and strong cheeses. -

The 2014 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is a stunning wine. Sweet, perfumed and deep, the 2014 is off-the-charts great. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, mint, lavender, spice and hard candy infuse the 2014 with striking layers of nuance. But what really impresses about the 2014 is its depth and huge vertical build. All the elements fall into place in a sumptuous, deep Barolo that screams with character. Beams of tannin punctuate the finish. Tinto Pesquera, the Familia Fernández Rivera flagship property, is known for producing some of the most sought-after Tempranillos in the world, including Millenium Reserva, which is only made in select vintages. The grapes for Millenium are sourced from the Viña Alta vineyard, where Familia Fernández Rivera planted their first vines at the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s. It is located at an altitude of over 800 metres. Millenium Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 2015 has a clean and bright with a very deep, black cherry color. On the nose the wine is full with fruit aromatics and subtle, well integrated oak. It has harmonious notes of ripe, black fruit, licorice and hints of coffee and spices. On the palate, Tinto Pequera has a full, fleshy and long with a lingering, round tannic structure. An elegant development on the palate with ripe fruit and roasted coffee beans coming through in the finish. This is a silky, elegant wine that aged well in French oak barrels. Great with all types of red or white meats. Also with game dishes and above all perfect with roast suckling lamb. It also goes very well with stews and pulses, as well as desserts, such as bitter chocolate or cheesecake. -

This very special bottle was originally conceived by the 5th generation current brewery owner Kosuke Kuji and the late legend brewmaster Hajime Yamaguchi. Nanbu Bijin 10 Years Aged Daiginjo is a well-structured Daiginjo with a silky mouthfeel and elegantly clean finish. The subtle notes of fuji apple, white peach and musk melon dance around the nose and play a lively game of contrast against the delicate grain and spice notes that are hidden on first impression. This sake is then produced using a time consuming shizuku method where drops of sake are collected through gravity versus being pressed, it is then aged in 1.8L bottles for 10 years before final bottling. Nanbu Bijin brewery makes limited releases of this sake only available to select restaurants in the U.S. and very special sake stores.

Tatenokawa was the first Sake Brewery in Yamagata who decided to brew exclusively Junmai Daiginjo class sake, and hope to continue to do so while providing their high quality merchandise at an affordable price. Nearly all of the rice they use to brew is locally grown Miyama Nishiki and Dewasansan. In 2014, ANA International picked this sake for their First Class and Business Class sake. Using the locally grown Dewasansan sake rice and only native Yamagata Kobo, Tatenokawa achieves an elegant sake with surprising complexity and energy. Relatively high acidity with a grapefruit peel-like aroma and flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness offers balance and leads every sip into a refreshing finish.
