The Chateau Clerc Milon 2015 is a crystal-clear garnet red with violet highlights. The Barolo Castelletto is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the upper parts of the Castelletto cru in Monforte d’Alba. Castelletto is a cool, east-facing cru facing the famous Vigna Rionda cru of Serralunga d’Alba, separated only by a small stream at the bottom of the valley.The 2017 vintage was challenging for many in the region due to heat and drought. However, wine critic Walter Speller has noted on JancisRobinson.com: ‘it is Monforte d'Alba that has turned out to be the absolute star in this vintage. Tasting its wines was like changing gears, going from a sluggish it is Monforte d'Alba that has turned out to walk to a brisk pace. The wines show generous, juicy fruit with a proper tannic core and plenty of the energy that is in short supply in 2017. The Castelletto cru, until now still flying a little under the radar, delivered a number of delicious wines’Very delicate aromas on the nose, with concentrated fruit on the palate and an elegant style. Castello di Perno is an important, up and coming estate in Piedmont of which wine lovers will be hearing a lot more in years to come. The brain child of Milanese lawyer Gregorio Gitti, Castello di Perno was founded in 2012 and owns 14 hectares (35 acres) of vineyard in the Monforte d’Alba, Nizza and Alta Langha regions, all farmed organically.
The castello in question sits at the summit of the tiny village of Perno, and houses Signor Gitti’s extensive collection of contemporary art. The wines are made by one of the region’s top winemaking consultants, Gian Luca Colombo.

The first harvest took place in 1252. For more than 750 years, therefore, Château Pape Clément has been producing fine wines on the same terroir. At this time, it was called Domaine de la Mothe.Following a painful episode of hail in 1937, which damaged the vineyard, the land was bought in 1939 by the agricultural engineer Paul Montagne, who signalled the rebirth of the estate by replanting the vines and renovating the cellars. As early as 1953, successful vintages flourished again, but once again, from 1975 onwards, a lack of investment detracted from quality for a period of around ten years.
At the turn of the 1980s, Bernard Magrez, a passionate wine entrepreneur, took the reins at the Château and was to give this grand cru classé an unprecedented international aura. Thanks to hard work, constant questioning, the alliance of tradition and innovation and a remarkable terroir, Château Pape Clément, Grand Cru Classé de Graves continues each year to amaze wine lovers with a quality exceptional.

Numanthia is a subtle blend of grapes from more than 100 parcels of the finest terroirs offering unique balance, elegance and power. Numanthia’s style depends on the selection of exceptional vines, aged between 50 and 100 years old, ungrafted and non-irrigated. Year after year, their low yields deliver grapes of extreme concentration with intense fruit and structure. It has a ripe cherry color with ruby reflections. Numanthia 2017 is expressive and deep, with hints of red berries, smoky notes, garrigue aromas and a background of sweet spices aromas. On the palate the wine has flavors of black fruit such as blueberries and blackcurrants, notes of violet and hints of black pepper, cloves and a tobacco leaf generate complexity and length, surrounded by a good acidity. -

All batches of Bush Vine Grenache are crushed as separate parcels to either static pumpover fermenters or open top fermenters. The majority of batches are fully destemmed, however for some the stems are left on to contribute another flavour dimension. The wild yeasts present on the grape skins are allowed to initiate fermentation. Particular batches are selected to remain on skins post-fermentation. This extended maturation helps to contribute an even greater complexity and individuality to the wine. After draining and pressing off skins, all batches are racked into older American, French and Hungarian hogsheads for six months maturation. The fragrance is saturated with brooding plum red fruits, dark cherries and perfumed berries. This is a defined wine showing the richness and concentration of the vintage. The palate is richly textured, fleshy, round and supple, with a red juiciness that merges into velvety tannins.
