  • Kumeu River Village Chardonnay 2022 is made from grapes grown in Kumeu and Hawkes Bay. It was fermented in a mix of old French oak barriques (33%) and stainless steel tanks (67%). The barrel fermentation adds some richness but little oak flavor, while the tank fermentation allows the vibrant fruit to shine through. The wine has lively lime and lemon aromas, a flinty, mineral edge, and hints of fig and white peach. The 2022 Vintage was another good year, with Hawkes Bay fruit making up 55% of the final blend. The mid-palate is weighty with peachy ripeness and crisp acidity that gives the wine a refreshing, cleansing quality. This wine is enjoyable as an aperitif, and even better when paired with fish and shellfish.

Brewed in the same way with the same ingredients as Pearls of Simplicity but with a touch of distilled alcohol to open up aromatics and lighten the overall impact. Konteki means “dew drops of the earth” while Higashiyama (the brewery name) translates to “eastern hill.“ Brewery workers have been known to start their days watching the sun rise over the mountains until the dew drops glisten as if they were the Tears of Dawn. Konteki Tears of Dawn Daiginjo Sake has notes of tropical banana, anise seed, and truffle. These same flavors come rushing through the full-bodied palate followed by a velvety and dangerously smooth finish. Try with braised pork ribs, fresh oysters or smoked gouda cheese.

Konteki Pearls of Simplicity Junmai Daiginjo Sake

Original price was: $45.99.Current price is: $40.97.
The epitome of purity, this sake is more subtle and nuanced than most highly aromatic Junmai Daiginjos. It is based on the ideals of Zen Buddhism and "wabi-sabi," the belief that beauty within the arts should be as understated and pure as a simple strand of pearls. One of two sakes brewed in exactly the same way with the same ingredients, except this one is a Junmai Daignjo and Tears of Dawn has added distilled alcohol to open up aromatics. Aromas of white flower and Asian pear followed by clean flavors of honeydew, lemon, and a hint of licorice. Finishes elegantly with rich minerality and rice texture. This is a great sipping sake but also a wonderful companion to scallops, pork, and light meats.
  • Pale gold, gold color with green shades. The nose is made of white flesh fruit, candied citrus aromas with a hint of brioche and ginger bread. The mouth associates richness, subtle oak, taste of dried fruit. Pleasantly rich wine.
  • Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc 2019 has a bright and light in appearance, aromas of citrus and stone fruit fill the nose. The palate is richly textured, fresh and complex with a bold minerality - a pure expression of Sauvignon Blanc. The wine concludes with a long crisp flinty finish.
