Château Gazin is located on the north-eastern part of the Pomerol plateau in Bordeaux, between Châteaux Petrus and Lafleur-Gazin, on a terroir of gravel with a subsoil of blue and green clay with iron oxides. L’Hospitalet de Gazin, the second wine of Château Gazin, has been produced since 1986 from the fruit of younger vines. It is an elegant, supple, charming wine, that can be enjoyed after just a few years in bottle. Expect lovely aromas of black plum, ripe cassis and cedar, and the palate was very smooth with a savory finish. -

The emphasis on Roddi and La Morra help explain the airy style of the wine, a lighter style than wines coming from the villages of Barolo or Serralunga, for example. Gian Luca explains about the 2018 vintage, a relatively cool year: a vintage that gave us wines that are really charming and approachable when young; the wines are already expressive, fruity, aromatic and tannins smooth and soft.

The Don Melchor Vineyard is located at the foot of the Andes Mountains on the northern bank of the Maipo River, 650 m above sea level. This is one of the coldest zones of the Alto Maipo Valley, which translates to great freshness to the wine. The 2019 vintage of Don Melchor is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, with only 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine has spent 15 months aging in French oak barriques.
