Cantine Bertani has been making wines in the Veneto region of Italy for more than 150 years. They have consistently strived to combine tradition and research to create wines of uncompromising quality with a distinct identity. As part of the ripasso technique, the wine is 'passed over' dried grapes to contribute depth and character. Ripasso styles, such as this one, can therefore offer the best of both worlds: notes of ripe red cherry and underbrush (that you often find with Valpolicella), alongside those of spice and chocolate (often found with Amarone). This wine is full-bodied with velvety tannins, aged in barrels and cement vats before spending three further months in bottle prior to release. This rich Ripasso would complement a variety of Italian dishes, from grilled and roasted meats to risotto with porcini mushrooms. -
Pinot Noir is the rising star of Marlborough and the variety that most expresses the differences from season to season. Patty Green and Jim Anderson started Patricia Green Cellars in 2000 after walking away from a very successful winery that they had built up since its inception in 1993. As karma would have it they were offered the opportunity, out of almost nowhere, to purchase a winery and vineyard that were located in the area that would become to be known as the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The winery was built on the idea that there were great vineyards in Oregon that could produce uniquely excellent wines if people dedicated themselves to the farming and winemaking necessary to do so. Over many vintages that ideal expanded as experience was gained, the winery grew and the sophistication of the vision adapted to the times. The 2021 vintage is an unusual one where the high heat neither translated into dark nor high alcohol wines. Wines are particularly red fruited, ripe, supple and delicious at early ages in this vintage. Perfect for a bottling that values consumption at a youthful age.Winemaker notes:

Bodegas Emilio Moro Tinto 2020 has a deep garnet red in color, on the nose it is serious and elegant. The evolution in the glass translates into an increase in intensity and aromatic complexity where the fruit continues to be the backbone of the nose of the wine. On the palate it has a well- structured body with ripe, silky tannins, easy to drink and a persistent aftertaste. -
Atop the hierarchy of Beaujolais Crus are Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon, with notable ageing potential. Morgon is robust and structured and can mature for a minimum 5-20 years. Purchased by Maison Louis Jadot in 2001, this south- to southeast-facing vineyard is situated on the slopes over the village of Villié Morgon. It covers 87.5 acres of the Morgon appellation, one of the 10 Crus of Beaujolais. This wine is vinified in vats for 10 to 20 days and then matured in oak barrels before bottling. Very deep in color, this wine - blend of three single vineyards (Bellevue, Côte du Py & Roche noire) - shows a brilliant and large aromatic palette (spices, ripen black fruit). On the palate, the tannins are still a bit firm - which indicates the potential of ageing – and they are well balanced by a great tension. A perfect partner for charcuterie, pasta in a rich cream sauce, pizza and pretty much any meat. Pazo de la Cuesta Mencia 2020 has an intense red color, middle layer. On the nose the wine has aromas of strawberries and black currants with foral notes and some maturity characteristic. The attack is fresh, its roundness stands out in the mouth with a good balance between alcohol, acidity and tannicity. -

Château La Gorce is an organically farmed Left Bank Bordeaux estate, classified as a Cru Bourgeois. The Cru Bourgeois classification is a well-respected, long-standing classification for Left Bank Bordeaux wines, usually made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon. Cru Bourgeois châteaux are typically considered one qualitative step below their Grand Cru Classé neighbors, but are well known for their exceptional value, frequently producing very affordable wines that can nonetheless easily improve for 15-20 years. The Cru Bourgeois classification is made every five years, and is based on a blind tasting by a professional panel as well as other criteria, ensuring quality.

School friends Giambattista Cilia (C), Giusto Occhipinti (O) and Pinuccia Strano (S) began making wine for pleasure and ended up creating a company that would become one of the most well-known in Sicilia. They rented their parents’ lands and began harvesting, pressing grapes, and making wine. They continue to operate with this independence of spirit, doing largely without an oenologist and basing winemaking decisions on their considerable experience and intuition. COS is a lifelong project of expressing the terroir, passion, and culture of this part of Sicily in its truest form.
