    Massolino Barolo Rionda Riserva 2014

Original price was: $199.97.Current price is: $179.97.

    Massolino Barolo Rionda Riserva 2014

Barolo Vigna Rionda is one of the most representative wines of Serralunga d’Alba. Powerful and structured on the palate, but with an array of elegant, delicate aromatics.

    98 points - Vinous

The 2014 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is a stunning wine. Sweet, perfumed and deep, the 2014 is off-the-charts great. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, mint, lavender, spice and hard candy infuse the 2014 with striking layers of nuance. But what really impresses about the 2014 is its depth and huge vertical build. All the elements fall into place in a sumptuous, deep Barolo that screams with character. Beams of tannin punctuate the finish. Massolino's 2014 is one of the greatest Vigna Riondas I have ever tasted. (AG) 98+ About the producer The Massolino family has deep roots in the Langhe. Great-grandfather Giovanni Massolino founded the winery in 1896 and was the first to bring electricity and a steam-operated machine for harvesting grain to Serralunga d’Alba. Grandfather Giuseppe was one of the founders of the local winegrowers’ consortium in 1934 and father Giovanni bought the first single vineyard, Parafada. Today, the estate is run by siblings Franco, Roberto and Paola.
  • Briccolina was the pioneer vineyard for our biodynamic approach and is now the only Barolo cru granted with the Demeter certification. It is a vineyard-garden, entirely worked by hand. It undergoes very long macerations during vinification.

    Azienda Agricola COS

School friends Giambattista Cilia (C), Giusto Occhipinti (O) and Pinuccia Strano (S) began making wine for pleasure and ended up creating a company that would become one of the most well-known in Sicilia. They rented their parents’ lands and began harvesting, pressing grapes, and making wine. They continue to operate with this independence of spirit, doing largely without an oenologist and basing winemaking decisions on their considerable experience and intuition. COS is a lifelong project of expressing the terroir, passion, and culture of this part of Sicily in its truest form.

Chateau Ksara Old Vine Carignan 2018

Original price was: $19.99.Current price is: $14.97.
The Jesuits, who founded Château Ksara introduced Carignan, a Spanish grape that has found global fame in the Southern Rhone, the Languedoc and California, to Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley in 1857. Since then, it has been the backbone of the wine industry and has been given profound expression by the Lebanese terroir. This wine is made from -60year-old vines, grown in the West Bekaa Valley, where the climate is continental, at 1,200 meters on stony clay and limestone soil. The Carignan is a hardy, long-ripening grape that delivers body, freshness, lush flavours and texture.
The Carignan has a deep purple hue. On the nose, it offers intense red and black fruits with spice and garrigue aromas. The palate is fresh, full of blackcurrant, strawberries and plums fruit underpinned with spice, juniper and oregano. The finish is long and sustained.
  • One of the classics of the great Veronese tradition, made by Masi in a contemporary style. Valpolicella Classico, praised by Hemingway as "a light, dry red wine, as friendly as the house of a favourite brother", is made here in an elegant style full of simplicity and freshness. Made in the Valpolicella Classica region from a blend using the traditional Veronese grapes: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Medium intensity cherry red. Intense bouquet with ripe cherry aromas. Fresh with good acidity, soft and silky tannins. Cherries are the dominant flavour, with hints of vanilla.
  • González Byass was created in 1835 by Manuel Maria González and remains in family hands today, now in the fifth and sixth generation.  Founded in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, in the heart of Sherry country, it is dedicated to the production of high quality sherries. The Sherry triangle, made up of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda, has a unique microclimate influenced by the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and Guadalquivir and Guadalete rivers. Production is dominated by the Palomino variety, and vines are planted in the white Albariza soil, with high chalk content which is excellent for retaining moisture.  These soil conditions, combined with over 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, fresh, humid breezes from the west (poniente) and warm, dry breezes from the east (levante) have formed the perfect marriage with the Palomino variety to produce an array of sherry styles.
All sherries are aged following the traditional Solera system where the wines are blended in 600 litre American oak casks. Many styles are produced with distinctive characters depending on whether they have been aged under the influence of the flor (a layer of natural yeast) or as an oloroso (in contact with oxygen). Golden amber color, dry, with lemon rind, hazelnut husk, toasted sesame and green tea notes mixed together
  • Les Perrières is 2.5 acres in size and is situated on the 'back side of the rock' with a sloping southeastern exposure just above the Le Clos parcel. The soil, which is derived from alluvial deposits, consists of a mix of deep silt and clay containing few stones. The subsoil features streaks of limestone and limestone marls, while the top layers, which are moderate in depth, are littered with stones on the surface. The vines have an average age of 35 years old. The wine is fermented in oak barrels before further barrel maturation, a part of it on lees. This Pouilly-Fuissé opens with creamy honeysuckle on the nose. A generous mouthfeel complements a nice ripeness and intense richness with notes of gingerbread and flowers. The wine is ample, smooth and well balanced, with a vivid, spicy finish. With age, it will gain in richness and fully reveal itself.
  • Gris is a french name to describe the color of a light rose wine. A blend of 90% Grenche and 10% Carignan. A delicate nose with grapefruit and white peach notes. Fresh and soft palate with a beautiful balance and finish. Perfect as an aperitif, with grilled meat or fish and Asian cuisine. Made from pale-skinned Grenache Gris from 10 to 20 year-old vines and 10% Carignan, "direct press" method is used to create a very pale rosé; grapes are pressed slowly and the juice is run-off without time in contact with the skins.
