The Uccelliera estate is located in the warm southern Castelnuovo dell’Abate part of the Montalcino zone. The vineyards range from 150 to 350 meters above sea level. Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is aged 24 months in a mix of French and Slavonian oak. The wine has aromas of black cherries, plums, and walnuts with undertones of cedar. The palate is dense and full-bodied, with rich tannins, and a complex finish. -

Domaine Antonin Guyon Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 2017 offers an exceptional range of Burgundies, mostly in the premier crus and the grand crus of the region. Corton is unique as it is the Côte de Beaune's only red grand cru appellation. This wine has a generous nose of juicy black fruit, cherries in particular. The palate is rich and full-bodied, offering vanilla, licorice, and an oak-spiciness from 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which were new. The concentration and broad tannin structure of this wine means it will continue to develop for the next 20 years. An excellent pairing for roasted meat, game, and most cheeses. -
Palazzo della Torre is one of the wines that has made Allegrini famous internationally, as it was the precursor of the double fermentation method: most of the grapes are vinified at harvest, while the remaining part is left to partially dry (appassimento). In January the wine is blended with the raisinated grapes, and a second fermentation begins. It then ages in second use French oak barriques for 15 months. A blend of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Sangiovese, this is an elegant, harmonious wine with considerable structure. Expect notes of vanilla, black pepper and cloves, with gentle nuances of raisined grapes. The palate is velvety, with soft tannins and a long and persistent finish. -

An icon in the region, the Allegrini family has been a pivotal part of Valpolicella’s history since the 16th century. This long winemaking tradition, combined with grapes of exceptional quality (all Allegrini wines are produced from estate-grown fruit), has led to the brand’s success and sterling reputation. The controlled drying (appassimento) of the harvested grapes, which lasts for around three to four months, brings intense aromas of undergrowth and dark fruits, such as cherries and blackberry jam. An hour in the decanter would allow this wine to further unfurl and reveal its beautiful bouquet, which also includes notes of dried violets, dark chocolate, coffee and tobacco. Intense flavors, silky-smooth tannins, and a long, dry finish feature on the powerful palate, which is balanced by the elegance and finesse of a cooler vintage. They have consistently strived to combine tradition and research to create wines of uncompromising quality with a distinct identity. As part of the ripasso technique, the wine is 'passed over' dried grapes to contribute depth and character. Ripasso styles, such as this one, can therefore offer the best of both worlds: notes of ripe red cherry and underbrush (that you often find with Valpolicella), alongside those of spice and chocolate (often found with Amarone). This wine is full-bodied with velvety tannins, aged in barrels and cement vats before spending three further months in bottle prior to release. This rich Ripasso would complement a variety of Italian dishes, from grilled and roasted meats to risotto with porcini mushrooms. -

Cantine Bertani has been making wines in the Veneto region of Italy for more than 150 years. They have consistently strived to combine tradition and research to create wines of uncompromising quality with a distinct identity. Grapes are dried in traditional drying rooms, where they rest on racks for 99 days before the winemaking process begins. An intense red color with hints of garnet, this wine offers succulent red plums and morello cherries on the nose, as well as notes of tea leaves, licorice, and spices. The Bertani Amarone has been described as “larger than life.” This power is balanced by elegance on the dry palate, which showcases red berries sweetened by soft notes of spices. Château La Gorce is an organically farmed Left Bank Bordeaux estate, classified as a Cru Bourgeois. The château is located in the Médoc appellation, the furthest north appellation in Bordeaux, a few miles north of St. Estèphe. Sandwiched between the Gironde river and the Atlantic ocean, with gravel, clay and limestone soils, Médoc wines are concentrated and savoury.
The Cru Bourgeois classification is a well-respected, long-standing classification for Left Bank Bordeaux wines, usually made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon. Cru Bourgeois châteaux are typically considered one qualitative step below their Grand Cru Classé neighbors, but are well known for their exceptional value, frequently producing very affordable wines that can nonetheless easily improve for 15-20 years. Etude Chardonnay 2021 comes from a six special acres in the heart of the Grace Benoist Ranch, in Carneros. The wine is lively, fresh, and vibrant, expressing the fruit and terroir with delicate touch of oak. -
Kumeu River Village Chardonnay 2022 is made from grapes grown in Kumeu and Hawkes Bay. It was fermented in a mix of old French oak barriques (33%) and stainless steel tanks (67%). The barrel fermentation adds some richness but little oak flavor, while the tank fermentation allows the vibrant fruit to shine through.The wine has lively lime and lemon aromas, a flinty, mineral edge, and hints of fig and white peach. The 2022 Vintage was another good year, with Hawkes Bay fruit making up 55% of the final blend. The mid-palate is weighty with peachy ripeness and crisp acidity that gives the wine a refreshing, cleansing quality. This wine is enjoyable as an aperitif, and even better when paired with fish and shellfish.
