A selection of the best soils from the vineyards is used to produce the Contino Reserva to offer the best possible wine in terms of acidity, concentration and maturity. The Tempranillo grapes are harvested primarily from an area of stony soil near the Ebro River, resulting in slower ageing due to the humidity of the ground.
Manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes. The grapes are carefully picked in the vineyard before being subjected to a meticulous selection process at the winery. After destemming, the grapes are fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks at 26-28ºC. Then, the grapes undergo post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in the same tanks.

Tinto Pesquera, the Familia Fernández Rivera flagship property, is known for producing some of the most sought-after Tempranillos in the world, including Millenium Reserva, which is only made in select vintages. The grapes for Millenium are sourced from the Viña Alta vineyard, where Familia Fernández Rivera planted their first vines at the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s. It is located at an altitude of over 800 metres. Millenium Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 2015 has a clean and bright with a very deep, black cherry color. On the nose the wine is full with fruit aromatics and subtle, well integrated oak. It has harmonious notes of ripe, black fruit, licorice and hints of coffee and spices. On the palate, Tinto Pequera has a full, fleshy and long with a lingering, round tannic structure. An elegant development on the palate with ripe fruit and roasted coffee beans coming through in the finish. This is a silky, elegant wine that aged well in French oak barrels. Tinto Pesquera Reserva 2019 has finesse and strength and is a wonderful example of the true elegance that can be obtained when Tempranillo is aged over time in bottle. On the eye the wine is clean and brilliant with an attractive, deep ruby hue. On the nose it is complex and very elegant with black fruit aroma, such as plums, together with notes of smoke, spices, roasted coffee beans, toffee, licorice and brioche. On the palate the wine is full, creamy and lingering on the palate. Very rounded, coated tannins with hints of well-integrated fruit coming through. -

The Vivanco winery and its incredible museum is located in Briones, La Rioja. Founded by Pedro Vivanco, a pioneer among Spanish winemakers, the estate is now managed by his sons, Rafael and Santiago. Rafael is the winemaker and is focused on producing wines exclusively from native grapes using traditional techniques. This Vivanco Crianza is made with 95% Tempranillo, 2% Maturana Tinta, and 3% Graciano, and aged in both French and American oak barrels for 16 months. Fresh and floral, expect red berry aromas with spicy notes on the nose, a well-balanced palate with juicy acidity and medium chalky tannins.
