  • Château Cantegril Sauternes 2018 is a dessert wine produced in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, France. Sauternes wines, including Château Cantegril, are renowned for their unique production process involving the development of noble rot. This fungus, known as Botrytis cinerea, affects the grapes and concentrates their sugars, resulting in a wine with rich sweetness and complex flavors. Château Cantegril Sauternes 2018 is primarily made from Sémillon grapes, which contribute to the wine's lush and opulent character. It also includes smaller proportions of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, adding to the wine's aromatic profile and overall balance. Château Cantegril Sauternes 2018 offers an enticing bouquet of ripe stone fruits such as apricot and peach, along with notes of honey, citrus zest, and a touch of tropical fruits. On the palate, it displays a velvety texture and a harmonious balance between the wine's sweetness and lively acidity. The flavors unfold layers of dried fruits, candied orange peel, honeyed almonds, and a hint of vanilla. The wine finishes with a lingering, honeyed sweetness. Château Cantegril Sauternes 2018 is a versatile wine that pairs exceptionally well with various desserts and cheese. It is an excellent companion to foie gras, blue cheese, crème brûlée, fruit tarts, and poached pears. The wine's sweetness and acidity create a delightful interplay with the flavors of these dishes, enhancing the overall dining experience.

    Chateau Cheval Blanc 2014

Original price was: $749.99.Current price is: $699.97.
    WS  - 97 points
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 96 points: "The 2014 Cheval Blanc is a blend of 45% Cabernet Franc and 55% Merlot, picked from 19 September until 8 October. It has a very succinct, almost understated bouquet, here a mixture of red and black fruit, cold limestone and crushed rose petals (the latter observed when the wine was in barrel). It is not a set of aromatics that go out and grab your attention, rather the sophistication creeps up on you. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin. Unlike the Deuxième Vin, there is real structure and backbone here, a gentle but insistent grip in the mouth. It errs towards black instead of red fruit, intermingling with sage and cumin, then segueing into a precise finish with a long, lingering ferrous finish (à la Pomerol!), finally a hint of oyster shell on the aftertaste. It is one of the most subtle Cheval Blancs that I have tasted in a long time, although it will doubtlessly be deceptively long lived. This is a serious Cheval Blanc for serious oenophiles."

    Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2008

Original price was: $349.99.Current price is: $299.97.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 95 points: "Deep garnet colored, the 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou begins a little broody, giving up glimpses of tar, chargrill, moss covered tree bark and fungi scents over a core of baked plums, warm cassis and blackberry compote plus a touch of unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied, the palate has firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the earth laced black fruit layers, finishing minerally."

Clos des Lunes Lune d’Argent 2021

Original price was: $27.99.Current price is: $22.97.
Located in Sauternes, on one of the greatest white wine terroirs in France , the Clos des Lunes is a magnificent rolling vineyard planted with old sémillon and sauvignon blanc vines. On very old vines, some perfectly golden clusters are chosen and delicately sorted grain by grain, by expert hands.
Clos des Lunes Lune d'Argent 2021 has a light yellow color with pale green tints. It has intense and complex nose of exotic white fruits and citrus fruit mixed with floral notes of linden and acacia. The palate is rich, generous, ample and intensely fruity, with very good tension. The Sauvignon Blanc lemon juice deli- cately coats the exotic sweetness (lychee, mango) of the well-ripe Semillon. Mineral notes bringing good salinity added to this cocktail, to serve a beautiful finish.

    Chateau Haut-Batailley 2015

Original price was: $79.99.Current price is: $71.97.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 points:  "The 2015 Haut Batailley is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, matured in 60% new oak. It was picked between 21 September until 2 October. It is a level up from the 2015 Lacoste Borie with much more fruit intensity: blackberry, boysenberry, tobacco and cedar aromas. It gathers momentum in the glass and develops a subtle mint accent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, lithe tannin, very well balanced with just a slight tinniness that will disappear by the time in bottle. I love the pencil shaving sprinkled over the aftertaste here. With very good substance and impressive length, this is a classic Pauillac that I suspect will offer 25 or 30 years of pleasure."

    Chateau Montrose 2020

Original price was: $239.99.Current price is: $211.97.

    Chateau Montrose 2020

The result of rigorous selection at each stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this great, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Structured and tannic but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé, with time it develops a delicate and complex bouquet. The wines have considerable ageing potential and are exceptionally long-lived. Matured for 18 months in 60% new French oak barrels, the premium wine accounts from 35 to 40% of the total production of Château Montrose.

    Wine Advocate - 100 points

"Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate's finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. This will be worth a special effort to seek out and only confirms Montrose's status as one of the contemporary Médoc's leading estates and a de facto first growth."

    About Chateau Montrose

Château Montrose, a prestigious wine estate situated in the renowned St. Estéphe appellation, is widely recognized as one of the region's premier properties. It stands as a producer of remarkable wines known for their exceptional longevity within the Médoc. From 1962 until 2006, Montrose was under the ownership of Jean-Louis Charmolue before being acquired by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, distinguished proprietors of the eponymous construction firm Bouygues. Montrose's wines are carefully crafted using a blend primarily composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Following meticulous production, the wines mature for 18 months in oak barriques, with approximately 30% of the barrels being new. Traditionally, Montrose wines exhibit a profound color, austere character, and impressive power in their youth. However, they possess the extraordinary ability to age gracefully, embodying the quintessential characteristics of St. Estèphe clarets once fully matured. Classified as a 2ème Cru Classé, Château Montrose continues to exemplify excellence in winemaking and stands as a benchmark for the appellation.

    Chateau d’Yquem Sauternes 1991

Original price was: $549.99.Current price is: $499.97.
A vintage marked by frost on the 21st of April that fortunately spared several plots of slope vineyards at Yquem. Summer was warm and dry, but September was rainy. The harvest was over in three passes which brought in only a small amount of grapes, but of very good quality. This experience shows what an advantage great terroirs have when spring frosts occur. In light of the weather that year, the calibre of 1991 Yquem exceeded our expectations, and benefited from a particularly fine summer.

Made from the oldest vines growing in ground made up of large stones lying on top of clay, Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard expresses the full character of the property’s old Merlot grapes which are the only variety to be used. These very old vines obviously have very low yields of 15 to 29 hectolitres per hectare.

The wine is aged for a very long time: 33 months in barrels including 18 months on fine lees. The resulting wine is smooth and elegant. It has perfect balance and lovely freshness. This lush, mouth-filling wine reveals a wide range of aromas and outstanding elegance.
