It’s creamy and packed with umami from the cold lactic fermentation (Kimoto) and the super geeky Hyogo grown Aiyama rice only polished to 90%. Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is a rich and elegant Brunello, both in structure and in olfactory expression. Brilliant ruby red with garnet-colored reflections, on the nose the aroma is sweet and fruity, the hints of fresh red fruit stand out, which combine perfectly with the more complex notes of licorice and pipe tobacco. Castello di Perno is an up-and-coming estate in Piedmont of which wine lovers will be hearing a lot more in years to come. The wines are made by one of the region’s top winemakers, Gian Luca Colombo, and the style is described as "neoclassical" by Nick Jackson MW; not a traditionalist, not a modernist producer, but a new classic style of Barolo. The 2019 vintage of Castello di Perno is 100% Nebbiolo, aged for 24 months in Austrian oak casks and 12 months in bottle. Expect aromas of dried flowers, truffles and cranberries. The balanced palate has high tight-grained tannins and complex earthy and herbal notes, with an elegant long finish. We had the honor of hosting Castello di Perno at 305 Wines and tasted a range of their wines. All highly recommended. -

The nose presents the patina of the Pommery vintages: elegance, minerality, freshness. First of all intense floral notes reach us: the peony floats around the hawthorn. Maturity is expressed by fruity notes of pear and fresh apricot. The great Pinot Noir present themselves with notes of crushed fresh strawberries. On the palate, the tasting is floating, with a great uprightness. A mineral structure fills the palate from the attack to the finish like a spine. The Contino Gran Reserva is the most elegant wine produced at the winery. It stays true to the essence of classic Rioja wines while constantly striving to evolve its style.
A selection of the best soils from the vineyards is used to produce the Contino Reserva to offer the best possible wine in terms of acidity, concentration and maturity. The Tempranillo grapes are harvested primarily from an area of stony soil near the Ebro River, resulting in slower ageing due to the humidity of the ground.
Manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes. The grapes are carefully picked in the vineyard before being subjected to a meticulous selection process at the winery. After destemming, the grapes are fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks at 26-28ºC. Then, the grapes undergo post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in the same tanks.

Domaine Anne Gros is well-known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir from the appellation of Vosne-Romanée. The owner Anne Gros is widely recognized as one of the leading winemakers in Burgundy. She took over the estate from her father, Francois Gros, in the late 1980s. Anne Gros is known for her meticulous approach to winemaking, with hand-picking the grapes, fermenting with natural yeasts, and using French oak barrels. Les Perrières is 2.5 acres in size and is situated on the 'back side of the rock' with a sloping southeastern exposure just above the Le Clos parcel. The soil, which is derived from alluvial deposits, consists of a mix of deep silt and clay containing few stones. The subsoil features streaks of limestone and limestone marls, while the top layers, which are moderate in depth, are littered with stones on the surface. The vines have an average age of 35 years old. The wine is fermented in oak barrels before further barrel maturation, a part of it on lees. This Pouilly-Fuissé opens with creamy honeysuckle on the nose. A generous mouthfeel complements a nice ripeness and intense richness with notes of gingerbread and flowers. The wine is ample, smooth and well balanced, with a vivid, spicy finish. With age, it will gain in richness and fully reveal itself. -
