Billecart-Salmon 2018 250th Anniversary Cuvée Is Now at 305 Wines — The Only Store in Florida Carrying It

There are bottles you open because the moment calls for something special. And then there are bottles made for a specific moment in history — bottles that will never exist again.

The Billecart-Salmon 2018 Extra Brut 250th Anniversary Cuvée is the second kind.

We just received it at 305 Wines, and we are currently the only store in Florida carrying it. Magnums are available by pre-sale.

What Is This Cuvée?

To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States — celebrated in 2026 — Maison Billecart-Salmon created this cuvée exclusively for the American market. It also happens to coincide with the House's own 200th harvest, making this a double milestone: two centuries of winemaking meeting two and a half centuries of American independence.

The story behind the release matters. The United States was one of Billecart-Salmon's first and most important export markets, driven by the ambition of Charles Billecart, who looked beyond Europe early in the House's history. That relationship has never wavered. This cuvée is their tribute to it.

Why 2018?

The choice of vintage is not accidental. 2018 is one of the most celebrated recent harvests in Champagne — a year of abundant sunshine, exceptional ripeness, and the kind of natural balance that makes a wine both expressive and age-worthy. Robb Report called it a vintage "you should be stocking up on." Antonio Galloni of Vinous recently noted that Billecart-Salmon has "never been better." The two facts together make this release hard to overlook.

What's in the Bottle

Blend: 65% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, 35% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs
Classification: 100% Grand Cru and Premier Cru fruit
Vinification: Stainless steel, with 3% vinified in oak casks
Lees aging: 63 months
Dosage: 4.9 g/L (Extra Brut)
Release: Exclusive to the American market

The Pinot Noir brings structure, depth, and that characteristic red fruit energy that defines the Montagne de Reims. The Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs adds precision, white flower aromatics, and the chalky minerality that anchors the wine. Sixty-three months on the lees builds layers of complexity without sacrificing the freshness that is Billecart-Salmon's signature.

In the glass: toasted sourdough, crisp red apple, white flowers, lemon zest, and a long, mineral finish. Power and lift at once, with no heaviness.

Who Is Billecart-Salmon?

Founded in 1818 in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ by Nicolas François Billecart and Élisabeth Salmon, the House has been family-owned for seven generations. It sits in a category of its own — not a mass-market brand, not a micro-grower, but a prestige house that has stayed deliberately small and deliberate in everything it does. Billecart-Salmon is known among sommeliers and collectors for elegance over power, for restraint over spectacle, and for consistency across decades. Their Rosé is one of the most requested Champagnes in fine dining. Their prestige cuvées — Nicolas François Billecart and the rare Clos Saint-Hilaire — are benchmarks. This anniversary cuvée earns its place alongside them.

Why This Bottle for America's 250th

July 4th, 2026 marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. If you are looking for a Champagne that honors the occasion with both meaning and quality, this is it. A French house that counted America among its first markets, releasing a vintage created exclusively for American consumers, from one of Champagne's finest recent years. It does not get more fitting than that.
