Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso 2020
Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso 2020 "Testamatta," meaning "crazy-head" in Italian, perfectly reflects the creative and passionate nature of winemaker Bibi Graetz. This Supertuscan wine highlights the purity, minerality, and transparency of Sangiovese from old vines. The grapes for the 2020 vintage are hand-picked and undergo rigorous selection in both the vineyard and winery. Fermentation is done with natural and indigenous yeasts in open-top barriques for smaller parcels and larger casks or stainless steel tanks for larger plots, with frequent manual punch-downs and pump-overs. After 7-10 days of maceration, the wine is aged for 20 months in old barriques and 50hl casks. Expect a fresh and vibrant nose with aromas of strawberries and Amarena cherries, complemented by hints of vanilla. On the palate, you'll find complex flavors of balsamic, earth, and tobacco, with high, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity that carry the flavors to a very long finish. This vintage has received exceptional acclaim, earning 96 points from The Independent and 95 points from Robert Parker. With its excellent quality and great aging potential, Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso 2020 is a must-have for any wine enthusiast. Order yours today!

The fruit is sourced from the following crus: Bricco Ambrogio (Roddi village), Roere di Santa Maria (La Morra), Bussia (Monforte d’Alba). The emphasis on Roddi and La Morra help explain the airy style of the wine, a lighter style than wines coming from the villages of Barolo or Serralunga, for example. Gian Luca explains about the 2018 vintage, a relatively cool year: a vintage that gave us wines that are really charming and approachable when young; the wines are already expressive, fruity, aromatic and tannins smooth and soft.
