Where to Buy Sake in Miami: A Guide to Finding Great Sake in South Florida

If you're wondering where to buy sake in Miami, you're not alone. Interest in sake continues to grow, but finding a shop with a genuinely diverse, carefully curated selection can still be challenging.

At 305 Wines in Miami, sake is a category we take seriously.

Our selection is curated by Guilherme de Macedo, Master Sake Sommelier, and ranges from fun, approachable cans to exceptional Junmai Daiginjo made for collectors, celebrations and gifting.

The idea is simple: there isn't one "best sake." There is a right sake for the occasion, the food, your personal taste—and your budget.

Where Can You Buy Good Sake in Miami?

A great sake selection should offer more than a shelf filled with bottles.

Sake can vary tremendously according to the rice, water, yeast, polishing ratio, brewing method, region, aging and decisions of the toji, or master brewer.

Some sakes are light and delicate. Others are aromatic, rich, creamy, savory, fruity, dry, sparkling or even aged.

At 305 Wines, we want customers to be able to experience that diversity. We carry sake in different styles, sizes and price points, from individual cans all the way to impressive large-format bottles.

And if you don't know what any of those terms on a sake label mean, that's okay.

Tell us what you normally like to drink, what you're eating, where you're going, or what you're celebrating, and we'll help you choose.

Sake Curated by a Master Sake Sommelier

Our sake selection is curated by Guilherme de Macedo, Master Sake Sommelier, with the same philosophy we bring to wine: every bottle should have a reason to be on our shelves.

We look for quality, character and a sense of place, but we also look for diversity. Sake should be fun to explore.

305 Wines has also worked closely with the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami on sake events and educational experiences, helping introduce South Florida drinkers to sake and Japanese beverage culture.

For us, sake isn't an afterthought to the wine selection. It is something we love teaching, tasting and talking about.

Four Sakes to Discover at 305 Wines

If you're just beginning to explore sake—or want to understand how diverse the category can be—these four selections are a great place to start.

Kikusui Perfect Snow Nigori: Sake for the Beach, Boat or Casual Night

Sake doesn't always have to involve a beautiful bottle and a formal dinner.

Kikusui Perfect Snow Nigori from Niigata is proof.

This is a Nigori sake, meaning it retains some of the rice solids that give the sake its characteristic cloudy appearance and richer texture. It is also a genshu, or undiluted sake, with 21% alcohol.

And here's the especially fun part: it comes in 180ml cans.

At 305 Wines, we sell Perfect Snow in a set of three cans, making it an easy way to bring sake into much more casual occasions.

Chill it, put it in the cooler and take it to the beach, the boat, a picnic or a casual get-together.

Sake can be serious. But it doesn't always have to be.

Amabuki Gin no Kurenai Junmai: Yes, Sake Can Be Rosé

This is one of our favorite bottles for showing people something they probably weren't expecting.

Amabuki Gin no Kurenai Junmai comes from Saga and is made using ancient black rice and flower yeast, giving the sake its striking reddish-pink appearance.

In other words: think of it as an unexpected Japanese answer to rosé.

The aromatics can evoke strawberry, cranberry, plum and hibiscus, followed by red fruit, gentle rice sweetness and bright acidity on the palate.

It's also fascinating at the table.

Try it chilled with spicy tuna, duck, pork belly, barbecue or soft cheeses. You can even take it into dessert territory with berries or dark chocolate.

It's a bottle that starts conversations before you've even tasted it.

Hakkaisan Snow Aged 3 Years Junmai Daiginjo Yukimuro: Sake Aged in Snow

Then there are bottles that tell a story about place.

Hakkaisan Snow Aged 3 Years Junmai Daiginjo Yukimuro comes from Niigata, one of Japan's great snow regions.

This is a Junmai Daiginjo made with rice polished to 50%, but what makes it particularly fascinating is right there in its name: Yukimuro.

A yukimuro is a traditional snow-storage room. Rather than relying solely on conventional mechanical refrigeration, this Japanese tradition uses the naturally cold environment created by stored snow.

The sake is aged for three years in this remarkably stable, naturally chilled environment.

The result shows aromas of pear, melon, green apple, citrus and subtle mineral notes, with layered rice flavors, gentle umami, balanced acidity and a dry finish.

Try it chilled or at room temperature with sashimi, tempura, Mediterranean seafood, washed-rind cheese or dry-aged beef.

It's an intriguing example of how Japanese tradition, climate and sake culture can intersect—and a wonderful bottle for someone ready to move beyond introductory sake and explore something more sophisticated.

Nishide Shuzo 100 Year Junmai Daiginjo: A Truly Special Gift

And then we get to a sake for a very special occasion.

Nishide Shuzo 100 Year Junmai Daiginjo comes from Ishikawa and is made with Gohyakumangoku rice polished to 50%.

But its most fascinating feature is its connection to the brewery itself.

The sake is brewed using kuratsuki kobo—a house yeast associated with the brewery for 100 years.

The result is a Junmai Daiginjo with aromas that can suggest apricot, young banana, cedar and steamed rice, alongside subtle savory notes. On the palate, rice umami, balanced acidity and restrained fruit lead into a dry finish.

Serve it chilled with sushi, sashimi, seafood, dashi-based dishes, mushrooms or grilled white fish.

But there's another reason we love recommending Nishide 100 Year: the presentation makes it an extraordinary gift.

It comes in a beautiful ceramic-style bottle presented inside a wooden box, turning the sake itself into an experience before it is even opened.

For an important birthday, anniversary, corporate gift, holiday or serious sake lover, this is the kind of bottle people remember.

What Food Goes with Sake?

One of the biggest misconceptions about sake is that it belongs exclusively with sushi.

Sushi and sashimi can be wonderful pairings, but sake is much more versatile than that.

Depending on the style, try sake with seafood, oysters, ceviche, grilled fish, tempura, yakitori, mushrooms, pork, fried foods, barbecue, cheese and even certain desserts.

For Miami drinkers, that opens up some particularly interesting possibilities.

Think sake with ceviche, crudo, stone crab, grilled seafood, pork belly or spicy dishes.

Instead of asking us, "What's the best sake?", try telling us what you're cooking.

The answer might surprise you.

From a $20 Discovery to a Special-Occasion Bottle

One reason we selected these four sakes is that they demonstrate just how broad the category can be.

You can start with Kikusui Perfect Snow Nigori, discover the unusual black-rice Amabuki Gin no Kurenai, move into the fascinating snow-aged Hakkaisan Yukimuro, or choose the Nishide Shuzo 100 Year Junmai Daiginjo for an important occasion.

The point is that exploring sake doesn't require starting with an expensive bottle.

There is something interesting at virtually every level.

Why Buy Sake at 305 Wines?

305 Wines has been recognized for the quality of its wine retail program, including recognition from the Miami Herald and Wine-Searcher in wine and retail categories.

Those organizations don't currently offer an equivalent sake award covering what we do, so we don't use those accolades to claim an award specifically for sake.

What we do bring to sake is the same philosophy behind our wine program: careful selection, education and personal recommendations.

Add a sake collection curated by a Master Sake Sommelier and our experience collaborating on Japanese sake education and events in Miami, and we believe we've created something quite special for South Florida.
