Vieux Château Certan 2000 is a mature Pomerol from one of the appellation’s most historic and highly regarded estates, located on the celebrated plateau alongside some of Bordeaux’s greatest vineyards.
After more than two decades in bottle, the wine shows blackberry, blackcurrant and raspberry layered with cedar, tobacco, licorice, mocha and earthy notes. The palate remains remarkably deep and structured, with mature fruit, fine tannins and a long, savory finish.
The 2000 vintage has always shown more power than many years at Vieux Château Certan, while retaining the estate’s characteristic elegance. Cabernet Franc plays an important role in the wine’s aromatic complexity, bringing freshness, spice and definition to the richer Merlot-based texture.
Today, the wine sits at a beautiful stage between maturity and continued longevity. It offers the complexity expected from aged Pomerol while retaining enough structure and freshness to continue evolving.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, venison, truffle dishes, porcini mushrooms, or mature cheeses.
Serve around 60–64°F. Stand the bottle upright several hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Open carefully and taste before deciding whether to decant; a long decant is not recommended for a mature bottle.
