Terre Stregate, which translates to "Bewitched Lands," is a fifth-generation family estate in Guardia Sanframondi in the hills of Sannio, Campania. The Scrypta is their barrique-aged Aglianico, a step up from their entry-level expression in both structure and complexity. Aglianico is one of Italy's great red varieties, often called the "Barolo of the South" for its depth, firm tannins, and aging potential. The 2020 shows dark cherry, ripe plum, black pepper, dried herbs, licorice, and a touch of espresso, with full body and a long, spiced finish. Excellent with grilled meats, braised lamb, or aged pecorino.
