Petrus 2003, directly from Bordeaux, with guaranteed provenance.
Petrus is a highly allocated wine from Pomerol, made exclusively from 100% Merlot and aged for 2 years in French oak barriques. The history of Petrus dates back to the mid-1750s, making it one of the earliest established vineyards in Pomerol.
The 11.5-hectare vineyard is situated on a plateau in the eastern part of Pomerol. The soil here is rich in iron and features blue clay, a key to Petrus' exceptional terroir. What sets this soil apart? The clay soils of Petrus are at least 40 million years old to start. The thick gravel on the surrounding plateau is only 1 million years old.

"Fleshy, fat, and already sexy, the dark plum/purple-tinged 2003 Petrus is exceptionally ripe and rich. (...) However, production is tiny ... less than 1,700 cases. Full-bodied, powerful, and exceptionally pure without losing its nobility and elegance, this stunning Petrus can be drunk in 2-3 years or cellared for three decades."
