Penner-Ash Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2023 brings together fruit from premier vineyards across Oregon’s Willamette Valley, creating a Chardonnay that combines ripe fruit with freshness and a clear sense of regional character.
Peach, crisp apple and preserved lemon are joined by white flowers, subtle herbs and a light saline note. The palate is medium-bodied and balanced, with bright acidity, smooth texture and gentle spice that develops through the finish.
The wine is built around freshness rather than weight, allowing the fruit and acidity to remain clearly defined. Subtle savory and spice notes add complexity without making the Chardonnay feel heavy or overly rich.
I like the balance of the 2023 because it shows the more refined side of Oregon Chardonnay. There is enough ripe fruit to make the wine immediately appealing, but the freshness and saline character give it precision and keep the finish lively.
Food Pairing: Pair with grilled or roasted fish, scallops, crab, roast chicken, creamy pasta dishes, mushroom dishes, or soft and semi-aged cheeses.
Serve around 48–52°F.
