Opus One 2022 | Napa Valley, California

Opus One is the result of a historic partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi — two legends from opposite sides of the Atlantic who set out to make one great wine. Since its first vintage in 1979, it has become the benchmark for Napa Valley Cabernet.

The 2022 is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec, harvested from the estate's Oakville vineyards. It aged 18 months in new French oak. The nose opens with blueberry, cassis, dried rose petals, olive, cigar box, and graphite. On the palate, ripe dark fruit, cocoa, and a touch of orange peel come together with fine-grained tannins and a finish that lands on wet stone, vanilla, and coffee. Structured and age-worthy, with a drinking window running through 2040.
