Barbaresco is one of the key appellations to understand Nebbiolo, and Moccagatta is a great producer to know. This is a family-run estate based in the village of Barbaresco, working with vineyards in prime sites. Their approach is traditional, allowing Nebbiolo to show its aromatic profile. This vintage is aged in barriques for one year, with a small percentage being new.

In the glass, it shows red cherry, dried roses, and light spice, with firm tannins and fresh acidity. It is already approachable, but still has the structure to age. This is the kind of wine I like to open with food. Pair with pasta with ragù, mushrooms, or roasted meats.
