La Val Albariño Rías Baixas 2024 comes from estate vineyards in Galicia, where the Atlantic climate and a combination of granite, alluvial and schist soils help give Albariño its distinctive freshness and mineral character.

Lemon, white peach and ripe pear are joined by white flowers, fresh herbs and subtle stone fruit notes. The palate is crisp and energetic, with bright acidity, a light textural richness from lees aging and a clean, saline finish.

Fruit from vineyards with different soil types adds complexity to the wine: granite contributes freshness and acidity, while alluvial and schist soils bring fruit concentration and a more pronounced mineral character.

I find this a classic and very versatile expression of Albariño. It has enough ripe fruit to be immediately appealing, but the acidity and saline character keep the wine precise and refreshing. It is particularly well suited to seafood and warm-weather drinking.

Food Pairing: Pair with oysters, clams, mussels, grilled shrimp, octopus, ceviche, sushi, grilled or roasted fish, seafood rice dishes, or fresh goat cheese.

Serve around 45–50°F.
