L’Hospitalet de Gazin 2020 is the second wine of Château Gazin, produced from the estate’s younger vines on the Pomerol plateau.
Merlot dominates the blend, giving the wine ripe plum, black cherry and dark berry fruit, while Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon add floral lift, spice and structure. The palate is supple and generous, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and notes of cocoa, cedar and subtle earth through the finish.
What makes this wine especially appealing is that it offers the texture and character associated with Pomerol in a more approachable style than the château’s grand vin. The 2020 vintage has enough richness to drink well now while retaining the structure to continue developing over the next several years.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, short ribs, mushroom dishes, or mature cheeses.
Serve around 60–64°F. If drinking now, decant for approximately 45–60 minutes.
