Frog’s Leap Merlot 2023 comes primarily from estate vineyards in Rutherford, with additional fruit from Carneros, offering a restrained and fresh interpretation of Napa Valley Merlot.

Ripe plum and black cherry form the core of the wine, accompanied by red cherry, fresh flowers, mint, orange peel and a touch of white pepper. The palate has generous fruit, but the emphasis is on balance rather than weight, with integrated tannins and bright acidity giving the wine definition and length.

The 2023 shows a more lifted and structured side of Merlot than many richer Napa examples. Cabernet Franc adds an aromatic and savory dimension, while the moderate alcohol and fresh acidity keep the wine energetic at the table.

Food Pairing: Pair with roast chicken, duck, braised veal, pork tenderloin, grilled mushrooms, beef tenderloin, lentils, or semi-aged cheeses.

Serve around 58–62°F. A short 20–30 minute decant will help the fruit and floral character open.
