Fattoria La Lecciaia Vigna Manapetra Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is a single-vineyard expression of Sangiovese from one of the estate’s most distinctive sites in Montalcino.
Wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry are joined by dried rose, herbs, orange peel, almond and subtle earthy notes. The palate is structured yet polished, with bright acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long savory finish.
The Manapetra vineyard has naturally well-drained soils that help control yields and concentrate the fruit, giving this Brunello more depth and definition than the estate’s broader appellation bottling while retaining the freshness and aromatic character of Sangiovese.
I find the 2019 particularly appealing because it combines concentration with precision. The fruit is ripe but not heavy, and the acidity and polished tannins give the wine enough structure to develop further in bottle while already showing considerable complexity today.
Food Pairing: Pair with braised beef, roast lamb, bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar ragù, mushroom or truffle dishes, or aged Pecorino.
Serve around 60–64°F. If drinking now, decant for approximately 45–60 minutes.
