F.X. Pichler Loibner Ried Klostersatz Grüner Veltliner 2024 comes from one of the historic vineyard sites of the Wachau, planted on gravelly soils close to the Danube in Unterloiben.
The wine shows green apple, peach and grapefruit, followed by white flowers, fresh herbs and the peppery spice associated with Grüner Veltliner. The palate is dry and energetic, with lively acidity, gentle texture and a distinctly saline finish.
Klostersatz has a particularly direct and refreshing style. The gravel soils and proximity to the Danube give the wine freshness and mineral tension, while the 2024 vintage keeps the fruit precise rather than broad or heavy.
This is a versatile Grüner Veltliner that works equally well as an aperitif or with food, especially dishes that benefit from acidity, herbs and subtle spice.
Food Pairing: Pair with Wiener Schnitzel, grilled fish, sushi, sashimi, roast chicken, pork, green vegetables, fresh herbs, or goat cheese.
Serve around 48–52°F.
