Domaine Gachot-Monot Côte de Nuits-Villages 2022 is a Pinot Noir from old vines planted on clay-limestone soils around Corgoloin, at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits.

Red cherry, raspberry and cranberry are joined by violet, subtle earth and gentle spice. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, with fresh acidity, fine tannins and a juicy red-fruit character that carries through the finish.

The grapes are hand-harvested and fully destemmed before traditional fermentation, followed by aging in barrel with only a modest proportion of new oak. The result is a classic, approachable expression of Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir without excessive extraction or oak influence.

I like this wine because it delivers the character of the Côte de Nuits in a very direct way. There is enough structure and earthiness to make it clearly Burgundian, but the fruit remains fresh and the tannins polished, making it enjoyable even at a relatively young age.

Food Pairing: Pair with roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, grilled salmon, or soft-ripened cheeses.

Serve around 58–62°F.
