Domaine de Courcel Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens 2022 comes from one of Pommard’s most celebrated vineyard sites, planted on the mid-slope where shallow marl transitions into deeper red clay.
Black cherry, ripe raspberry and plum are joined by violet, clove, earth and subtle smoky notes. The palate is concentrated and structured, with dense fruit, fresh acidity and fine but persistent tannins that carry the wine through a long, mineral finish.
Les Rugiens is known for producing some of Pommard’s most age-worthy wines, and the 2022 combines the natural power of the site with remarkable precision. The old vines and varied soils give the wine depth without sacrificing freshness, making this a Burgundy built as much for the cellar as for the table.
While already expressive, the structure suggests significant development ahead, with the fruit and tannins becoming increasingly integrated over time.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast duck, venison, beef Wellington, lamb, porcini mushrooms, truffle dishes, or mature Comté and Époisses.
Serve around 58–62°F. If drinking young, decant for approximately one hour.
