Delas Frères Saint-Esprit Côtes-du-Rhône 2024 is a Southern Rhône blend led by Grenache and Syrah, with Marselan, Mourvèdre and Carignan adding additional color, spice and structure.

Blackberry, raspberry and ripe plum are joined by violet, licorice, dried herbs and subtle pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and rounded, with juicy fruit, fresh acidity and smooth tannins leading to a savory finish.

Most of the wine is aged in stainless steel, preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit, while the more structured lots spend some time in oak to add depth without making the wine feel heavily wooded.

I like this wine because it delivers the warmth and generous fruit of the Southern Rhône while remaining easy to drink. The tannins are soft, the fruit is expressive and the herbal and peppery notes give it enough character to work particularly well at the table.

Food Pairing: Pair with grilled sausages, burgers, roast chicken, pork, lamb, barbecue, mushroom dishes, pizza, or semi-aged cheeses.
