Colleleva Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2024 comes from the Marche, where vineyards between the Apennines and the Adriatic benefit from both warm sunshine and cooling coastal influence.
Lemon zest, green apple and white peach are joined by citrus blossom, fennel and subtle wet-stone notes. The palate is light and crisp, with bright acidity, a gentle saline character and a fresh, persistent finish.
The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation, preserving the natural freshness and purity of Verdicchio. A slight natural spritz can add an extra sense of energy on the palate.
I like this wine for its simplicity and freshness. It is not trying to be rich or heavily textured; instead, the citrus, herbal notes and saline finish make it particularly refreshing and very easy to enjoy with food.
Food Pairing: Pair with oysters, crudo, grilled fish, calamari, shrimp, seafood pasta, risotto, fresh cheeses, or vegetable dishes.
Serve around 45–50°F.
