Château d'Yquem is the only estate in Bordeaux classified as Premier Cru Supérieur, standing alone above all other Sauternes producers. It has produced wine continuously since 1593 and remains the world's definitive benchmark for botrytis-affected sweet wine. The 2016 was harvested over five weeks, from late September to early November, with pickers selecting berry by berry across multiple passes through the vineyard. With 135 grams of residual sugar, it is a more precise and tensile Yquem than the opulent 2015 or 2009, showing floral honey, mango, lychee, dried apricot, exotic fruit, and a long, vibrant finish underpinned by bright acidity.
