Château Cos Labory, Saint-Estèphe 2016
A 5th Growth Cru Classé from Saint-Estèphe, sitting on the same famous Cos hill as its neighbor Cos d'Estournel. The estate's 18 hectares are planted on Gunz gravel over limestone, and the 2016 is a blend of roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, aged in French oak.
2016 was an outstanding vintage across the Médoc, and this wine delivers classic Saint-Estèphe character: dark fruit, cassis, tobacco, and firm structure. The tannins are serious but well-integrated at this stage. Plenty of depth and a long finish. Rated 91 points.
Drink now through 2030. Decant at least an hour. Pair with lamb, ribeye, duck confit, or aged hard cheeses.
