Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey Sauternes 2005 is a Premier Cru Classé from one of Sauternes’ historic estates, presented here in the particularly practical 375ml half-bottle format.
After more than two decades of bottle age, the wine has moved beyond youthful primary fruit into a more complex expression of dried apricot, ripe pineapple, honey, baked apple and citrus marmalade, joined by cinnamon, baking spice, brioche and subtle caramelized notes.
The palate is rich and concentrated, yet fresh acidity keeps the sweetness from becoming heavy. Sémillon provides the wine’s generous texture and honeyed depth, while Sauvignon Blanc contributes lift and freshness through the finish.
The 2005 vintage is now entering a beautiful stage of maturity, making this especially appealing for customers who want to experience aged Sauternes without waiting years for a young bottle to develop.
Food Pairing: Pair with foie gras, Roquefort or Stilton, blue-cheese soufflé, tarte Tatin, crème brûlée, almond pastries, or spicy Asian cuisine.
Serve well chilled around 46–50°F. Because this is a mature bottle, open gently and avoid excessive decanting.
