Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2024 is a Grand Cru Classé from Pessac-Léognan, blending Sauvignon Blanc with Sémillon in a style that combines freshness, texture and the mineral character of Graves.

Lemon, grapefruit and white peach are joined by verbena, mint, white flowers and subtle chalky notes. The palate is fresh and precise, with bright acidity, good mid-palate density and a long, saline finish.

Sauvignon Blanc provides the citrus, herbal lift and energy, while Sémillon adds roundness and texture. Aging in French oak barrels and larger foudres brings additional depth without taking attention away from the fruit and freshness of the wine.

I like the balance of the 2024 because it has the tension expected from a serious dry white Bordeaux, but there is also enough texture and ripe fruit to make it approachable young. The mineral character and acidity should allow it to develop additional complexity over the next several years.

Food Pairing: Pair with oysters, scallops, lobster, grilled or roasted fish, sushi, roast chicken, veal, goat cheese, or seafood dishes with herbs and citrus.

Serve around 50–54°F.
