Château Batailley Pauillac 2005 is a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Grand Cru Classé) from the historic 1855 Classification. Located in Pauillac, the estate takes its name from a 15th-century battle that took place on its grounds during the Hundred Years’ War. Today, Château Batailley is owned by the Borie family and is celebrated for producing structured, classical Pauillac wines that age beautifully.
The 2005 vintage is considered one of the greatest of the early 21st century in Bordeaux, yielding wines of exceptional balance, concentration, and longevity. Château Batailley 2005 displays aromas of cassis, blackberry, and graphite, layered with cedar, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with firm tannins, freshness, and remarkable depth.
This Pauillac has entered a beautiful drinking window, showing both primary fruit and emerging tertiary complexity, while still holding an aging potential of another 15–20 years for well-stored bottles.
A superb example of a Left Bank classified growth in an outstanding vintage, Château Batailley 2005 represents both pedigree and value for Bordeaux collectors.
