Champagne Salon Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil 2013 is one of the rarest and most iconic champagnes, produced only in exceptional vintages. Salon is unique: a single grape, 100% Chardonnay, from a single village, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs, and always released as a vintage wine.
The 2013 vintage in Champagne was marked by a cool spring and a late harvest, conditions that favored Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs. The result at Salon is a wine of incredible tension and precision. Aromas of lemon zest, white flowers, chalk, and green apple lead into a mineral-driven palate with remarkable length. Still youthful, the mousse is fine and persistent, framing a wine built more for elegance than power.
Salon is famous for its longevity, and the 2013 is no exception. While already brilliant in its focus and purity, this champagne will continue to evolve for decades, with a drinking window stretching into the 2050s. If offers a perfect example of the vintage in the Côtes des Blancs, a year in which ripeness and acids were both elevated. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, mint and white pepper explode onto the palate. Bright saline notes pull it all back together on the finish."
