Champagne Louis Roederer Carte Blanche Demi-Sec, Non-Vintage — Champagne, France
Louis Roederer is one of the last great family-owned Champagne houses, farming 244 hectares of estate vineyards — 70% Grand Cru — across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. Carte Blanche is the sweetest wine in their range, a demi-sec with around 38g/L of residual sugar. The blend is 42% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 18% Pinot Meunier from over 40 parcels, assembled across six different vintages with reserve wines aged in oak casks. It spends three years in the cellar and six months on cork after disgorgement before release.
This is a Champagne for people who think they don't like sweet wines. The sugar is there, but so is Roederer's signature freshness and precision — nothing is heavy or cloying. Expect baked apple, honey, white flowers, almond, and a hint of frangipane, with a creamy texture and a long, balanced finish. Perfect with fruit-based desserts, blue cheese, crème brûlée, or as a standalone after-dinner pour.
