Champagne Leclerc Briant Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Millésime 2018 is made entirely from Chardonnay and offers a precise, energetic expression of the house’s organic approach to Champagne.

Lemon, pear and green apple are joined by white flowers, subtle citrus oil and light brioche notes. The palate is fine and focused, with delicate bubbles, bright acidity and a chalky, saline character that carries through the long, dry finish.

The very low dosage of 1.9 g/L keeps the wine especially precise and allows the Chardonnay, acidity and mineral character to remain clearly defined. Extended aging on the lees adds texture and complexity without taking away from the freshness of the wine.

I like the balance here between delicacy and persistence. The wine is not about richness or sweetness; instead, it develops through freshness, fine texture and a subtle saline character that makes it particularly appealing at the table.

Food Pairing: Pair with oysters, caviar, scallops, crab, lobster, sushi, sashimi, grilled or poached fish, or aged Comté.

Serve around 50–54°F. Allow the wine a few minutes in the glass rather than serving it excessively cold.
