Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Rosé de Saignée Premier Cru Extra Brut is a distinctive rosé Champagne from Vertus, made primarily from Pinot Noir with a small proportion of Pinot Gris grown together in old-vine parcels.
Cranberry, wild strawberry and raspberry are joined by orange peel, dried flowers, subtle spice and chalky mineral notes. The palate is dry and energetic, with fine bubbles, bright acidity and more structure than is typical of many rosé Champagnes.
Rather than blending white Champagne with red wine, Larmandier-Bernier uses the saignée method, allowing the Pinot grapes to macerate briefly on their skins. This gives the wine greater color, fruit intensity and texture while preserving freshness and precision.
I like this Champagne because it has real vinous character. It is not simply a delicate aperitif-style rosé; there is enough depth, structure and savory complexity to make it particularly interesting at the table.
Food Pairing: Pair with tuna tartare, salmon, duck breast, charcuterie, grilled pork, mushroom dishes, or berry-based savory preparations.
Serve around 48–52°F.
