Champagne Lallier Réflexion R.020 Brut Non-Vintage, Half Bottle — Grand Cru, Aÿ, Champagne
Lallier is a Grand Cru house based in Aÿ, now led by cellar master Dominique Demarville — formerly of Veuve Clicquot. The Réflexion series is their flagship concept: each release is a multi-vintage blend anchored to a specific harvest year rather than a fixed house style, making it closer in spirit to a vintage Champagne. R.020 is Demarville's first blend for the house and captures the 2020 harvest — a dry, sunny year with early picking and exceptional fruit quality, completing a trilogy of great Champagne vintages alongside 2018 and 2019. The blend is 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir from 50 crus across the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, and Côte des Bar, with 5% aged in oak for depth. Dosed at 7g/L, disgorged May 2023.
White flowers, lemon zest, kumquat, white peach, and a hint of apricot on the nose. The palate is fresh and precise with a silky texture, good structure from the Pinot Noir, and a long mineral, saline finish. An honest, well-made Champagne at a very fair price — especially in half bottle for a weeknight pour or a solo celebration.
