Ceritas Marena Chardonnay 2023 comes from cool coastal vineyard sites in the West Sonoma Coast, where fog, wind and proximity to the Pacific help preserve acidity and give Chardonnay a particularly precise character.

Pear, white peach and nectarine are joined by citrus, fresh flowers, almond and subtle beeswax notes. The palate is medium-bodied and textured, with bright acidity, a smooth satin-like feel and a long, focused finish.

Aging in neutral French oak with extended lees contact adds texture without introducing obvious oak flavors, allowing the freshness and coastal character of the Chardonnay to remain clearly expressed.

I like the balance here between texture and tension. There is enough richness to give the wine substance, but the acidity and mineral character keep it precise and energetic. It is already very expressive, although the structure suggests that it should continue to develop well over the next several years.

Food Pairing: Pair with scallops, lobster, grilled or roasted fish, roast chicken, creamy mushroom dishes, soft cheeses, or seafood with beurre blanc.

Serve around 50–54°F.
