Bideona Las Parcelas Blanco 2024 comes from old vineyards scattered across several villages of Rioja Alavesa, with Viura forming the heart of a traditional field blend of local white varieties.
Stone fruit, pear and citrus are joined by white flowers, fresh herbs and subtle savory notes. The palate is juicy and refreshing, with good texture, lively acidity and a long, chalky mineral finish.
The vines average around 50 years of age and grow at high elevation on limestone-rich soils. Most of the wine is fermented in concrete, with a smaller portion in French oak, adding texture without giving the wine an obvious oak character.
I find this an interesting expression of white Rioja because the focus is not on oak or richness. It is the freshness, old-vine concentration and mineral character of Rioja Alavesa that give the wine its personality and make it particularly versatile at the table.
Food Pairing: Pair with grilled fish, cod, scallops, shellfish, roast chicken, rice dishes, grilled vegetables, or semi-soft cheeses.
Serve around 48–52°F.
