Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2013 is a traditional Amarone made from Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grown at the Tenuta Novare estate in the heart of Valpolicella Classica.
Dried cherry, plum and red berries are joined by tea leaf, licorice, cedar, spice and subtle smoky notes. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with considerable depth, firm but finely textured tannins and fresh acidity that keeps the wine balanced despite its richness.
The grapes are naturally dried before fermentation, followed by an exceptionally long aging period in large Slavonian oak casks. This traditional approach gives the wine complexity and maturity without covering the fruit with obvious oak.
What stands out to me is the balance between concentration and freshness. There is plenty of Amarone richness, but the wine remains structured, dry and remarkably precise, which is one of the reasons Bertani has such a distinctive place among the classic producers of Valpolicella.
Food Pairing: Pair with braised beef, roast lamb, venison, osso buco, mushroom dishes, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, or other mature hard cheeses.
Serve around 60–64°F. If opening now, decant for approximately 45–60 minutes.
