Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley 2023
One of California's most iconic Sauvignon Blancs, and for good reason. Merry Edwards has been making this wine since 2001 using the rare Musqué clone alongside traditional Sauvignon, fermented in French oak with regular lees stirring for texture and depth. Current winemaker Heidi von der Mehden has carried the style forward without missing a beat.
Expect pineapple, passionfruit, guava aromas, with lemon curd and lime zest underneath. The palate is easy but precise, grapefruit, ripe melon, and honeysuckle with a clean, refreshing finish. Rated 94 points by Wine Spectator and ranked #16 on their Top 100 of 2024.
Perfect with Florida stone crab, grilled fish, goat cheese, or anything off the grill this summer.
