Penfolds RWT Bin 798 Shiraz 2019 is a single-region Barossa Valley Shiraz created to show a different expression of Penfolds from the more muscular style of Grange.
Blackberry, dark plum and black cherry form the core of the wine, joined by anise, cocoa, dried herbs and savory notes. The palate is concentrated and full-bodied, with dense fruit framed by firm, polished tannins and a long, structured finish.
Maturation in French oak brings spice and texture without masking the character of the Shiraz. The 2019 growing season was warm and dry, resulting in low yields and fruit with considerable concentration, yet the wine retains enough freshness and structure to support long-term aging.
RWT is one of the clearest examples of how Barossa Shiraz can combine richness with precision. The 2019 is already expressive, but its tannin structure and concentration make it particularly well suited to further cellaring.
Food Pairing: Pair with grilled ribeye, slow-roasted beef, lamb, braised short ribs, barbecue, venison, mushroom dishes, or aged hard cheeses.
